EVERTON HANDED FAVOURABLE PREMIER LEAGUE START

Merseyside club Everton have been handed a favourablestart in the Premier League ahead of the 2021/22 campaign after the fixtures were released by the league body. In the fixtures unveiled by the Premier League earlier this week, the Toffees will start the new season with an home game against Southampton on matchday one.

The Everton vs Southampton can be called the Theo Walcott derby after the England international moved to boyhood club Southampton permanently. Walcott had spent last season on loan with the Saints in what was the last year of his Everton contract. His existing deal with the Toffees ends in the coming days and Southampton have already given him a two-year deal to secure his signing on a free transfer once his Everton contract expires at the end of this month.

MAITLAND-NILES: HAMMERS AHEAD OF EVERTON

West Ham United are reportedly the favourites to sign Arsenal player Ainsley Maitland-Niles this summer. The Hammers are ahead of Merseyside giants Everton in the race to sign the England international who has been playing for West Brom. According to the publication from the stables of The Sun, West Ham United are at the front of the queue to sign the 23-year-old utility player.

The Daily Mail confirmed the interest of Everton in the Arsenal loanee. Maitland-Niles is on loan at West Brom from the Gunners and he has been a regular in the Baggies line-up. He has played in his preferred midfield position at West Brom.

EVERTON KEEN ON JUVENTUS DEFENDER

Premier League outfit Everton are strongly interested in signing Juventus defender MerihDemiral. This is according to experienced journalist Daniele Luogo. He said the Toffees want to sign the Turkish international player when the summer's transfer window reopens in the coming weeks.

Luogosaid the Mersyside giants are preparing a bid of around €25m to €30m for the 23-year-old defender and it remains to be seen if the offer would be enough to secure his transfer from Italian Serie A champions Juventus.

EVERTON EMERGE AS POSSIBLE DANIEL JAMES DESTINATION

The future of Manchester United winger Daniel James continues to have a huge question mark above it and even though it keeps looking less likely that he will be leaving Old Trafford anytime soon, the rumors just won't go away. The former Swansea youngster is worried that he is not having as many chances as he would like to have under manager Olé Gunnar Solksjær and reports are suggesting that he is seriously considering his future.

In recent games, the manager has trusted the young winger enough to hand him some starts both in the Premier League and in the Europa League. He has taken those chances and has performed well in a couple of those games, but it is perceived that he is only getting chances now due to the inconsistency and injury problems that have kept Anthony Martial out of the starting lineup.

EVERTON LOANEE EXCUSED FROM ITALY DUTY

Paris Saint Germain (PSG) forward Moise Kean has been sent home from the Italy national team camp ahead of the start of the World Cup 2022 qualifiers in the European section. The Italian FA announced earlier on Wednesday that Moise Kean won't be a part of the qualifiers for Italy during the current international break after he was excused as a result of fatigue. Moise Kean has been in very good form for PSG this season since teaming up with the Champions League finalists at the start of this campaign.

EVERTON LOSE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GRIP

Everton have lost their grip on a Champions League place in the Premier League as things stand on the log after the defeat to Chelsea on Monday night. Before the game, the Mersyside giants were in a very good place as regards the race for a Champions League spot at the end of the season. Everton started the weekend with a one-point deficit on Chelsea in fourth place having played a game less than the Blues. Everton had 46 points with 26 games played and were in fifth position, while Chelsea had 47 points in fourth place after 27 games. Everton had the advantage of one game over the Blues and they could have gone ahead of Chelsea with a win in that outstanding game, an away match at Aston Villa. The advantage has evaporated after the 2-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea. With the Blues' win over Everton, they have moved four points clear of the Toffees having played a game more.

EVERTON JOIN MAX AARONS RACE

Everton are the latest club to be linked with a move for highly rated Norwich City fullback Max Aarons. This is according to the publication from the Daily Mail but Everton will have to contend with some big European clubs in the race to sign the young Englishman. Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and Manchester United have all been linked with a transfer for Max Aarons in the last one year. Max Aarons impressed for Norwich City in the Premier League last season as the Canaries were demoted to the English Championship at the end of the season. It was revealed that Barcelona made an offer for Max Aarons last summer and it was rejected by Norwich City. Italian capital club AS Roma are also interested in signing the player.

Ancelotti targets top four and trophy with Everton

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that the primary objectives of Everton this season would be to qualify for Europe and also pick up a trophy along the way. The appointment of Carlo Ancelotti, who is a Champions League winning manager, turned out to be a statement of intent from Everton, who are keen to mix it along with the big boys. The Italian has been in charge of the blues since December 2019.


However, he has managed less than a 50% win record. As a result, Everton have been unable to make back in the Premier league. Last season, the club finished the 12thposition as many of the expensive signings did not work out.

EVERTON REKINDLE INTEREST IN TURKISH DEFENDER

Premier League outfit Everton have rekindled their interest in Lille defender Mehmet Zeki Celikaccording to the reports coming out of Turkey. Merseyside giants Everton have decided to come back for the right-back after their initial approach last summer. The latest interest in the Turkish international player was confirmed by media outlet Turkish-football.


A source close to the player informed the media outlet that Everton have madea second offer for the player in a bid to secure his signing this month. Their first offer for Celik was made last summer when they showed interest in him for the first time. The player has been under the radar of Everton since they were unable to pull through a deal for him last summer. The interest of Everton in Mehmet ZekiCelikwas reported in August 2020 by Turkish-football.

UPDATE ON EVERTON LEAGUE CAMPAIGN REVEALED

Everton and other Premier League teams won't have to stop their matches in the league despite the fact that a lockdown has been announced in the United Kingdom (UK) by the prime minister Boris Johnson due to the new Covid-19 strain. Boris Johnson announced on Monday that the UK will enter into a complete lockdown with immediate effect before adding that primary and secondary schools would be shut down during the duration of the lockdown. The Covid-19 alert level has been raised from level four to level five to further highlight the severity of the situation on ground. Level five is the highest level possible and residents have been told to stay at home in a bid to protect the National Health Service (NHS).


Major sporting events like the Premier League are not affected by the new development meaning that Everton have the chance to bounce back from the disappointing loss at home to West Ham United on Friday in the FA Cup this weekend. Everton were beaten 1-0 by the Hammers at home as their former manager David Moyes masterminded a big win over the Toffees.
