CALVERT-LEWIN TO RETURN AGAINST BRIGHTON

Everton are expected to welcome star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin back to their squad ahead of the home clash with Brighton & Hove Albion on New Year's Day after he won his battle against a troublesome thigh injury. Dominic Calvert-Lewin could have made his comeback during the Newcastle United clash on Thursday night only for the game to be postponed due to Covid-19 cases at the instance of the away team. Newcastle United made the request for the postponement and it was approved by the Premier League board.

Calvert-Lewin has been missing in action for Everton since the third week of the season due to a thigh problem. The England international suffered a setback on two occasions while trying to recover from the injury. The injury was a big blow to the Englishman after a very good start to the season.

BENITEZ UNDER PRESSURE AFTER LIVERPOOL DEFEAT

Everton manager Rafael Benitez is under serious pressure to keep his job after the heavy defeat at the hands of Merseyside rivals Liverpool. According to the bookmakers, Rafael Benitez is favourite manager to get the sack and he will most likely not survive the Arsenal game next week Monday if he loses in front of their home fans once again.

Benitez was made the Everton manager in the summer and his appointment was not a popular choice with the fans. He was able to shut down those who have doubts over the appointment due to his previous managerial role at Liverpool. The Spaniard is the second manager to manage both Everton and Liverpool. He was in charge of the Reds when they won the Champions League title in the Turkish city of Istanbul in 2005 and the 2006 FA Cup title.

EVERTON QUARTET TO MISS SPURS GAME

The Everton quartet of AbdoulayeDoucoure, Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes and Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss the Premier League visit of North London giants Tottenham Hotspur later this weekend.

Everton have lost their last three games in the Premier League and that poor run has seen them drop to tenth place on the log after ten games this season. They would be hoping to avoid a fourth successive league defeat when they take on Spurs at home in what's the first Premier League game for Conte since his appointment as the Tottenham Hotspur manager earlier this week.

CALVERT-LEWIN RULED OUT OF HORNETS CLASH

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss the visit of Watford in the Premier League after he suffered a setback in his quest to return from a thigh problem. The England international has been missing in action since he scored one of the goals in a 2-0 away win over Brighton and Hove Albion in August. Summer signing Demarai Gray gave Everton the lead in the first half before Calvert-Lewin wrapped up the points via a spot kick just two minutes before the hour mark.

Merseyside giants Everton are reportedly eyeing a transfer swoop for Arsenal star Ainsley Maitland-Niles. This is according to the report from the stables of Sky Sports which stated that the Toffees want to sign the England international on loan before the transfer window closes on Tuesday. Maitland-Niles has a contract at Arsenal that runs until the summer of 2023.

CALVERT-LEWIN EYED AS KANE REPLACEMENT

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is a big target for Premier League holders Manchester City in this summer's transfer window. Manchester City started the current transfer window with a serious interest in both Jack Grealish and Harry Kane. Both Kane and Grealish were part of the England squad at the European Championship.

Manchester City made a bid of £100m for Kane in June but it was turned down by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy who demanded for £150m at least. Kane will most likely leave Spurs if the Premier League champions meet the financial requirements needed to sign him and they have already identified Everton attacker Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a possible replacement for him.

JUVENTUS DEMAND €40M FOR DEMIRAL
