David Unsworth unsure of permanent Everton role

Everton caretaker David Unsworth is unsure whether he would take permanent charge of the Toffees after he guided them to their first victory in six games. The Merseyside outfit came into the match on a five-match winless streak, which included three defeats and two draws.

Goals from Richarlison and Christian Kabasele gave visitors Watford a 2-0 lead in the second half, but the Toffees struck back immediately with Oumar Niasse and Dominic Calvert-Lewin finding the scoresheet. Leighton Baines made it 3-2 in Everton's favour with a coolly slotted penalty before Hornets skipper Tom Cleverley missed a spot kick of his own to gift the Toffees a much-needed win.

MAN CITY LEAVE IT LATE

Manchester City had to fight hard to defeat an initially resilient Southampton in their most recent fixture in the Premier League. The manager Pep Guardiola was relieved that the team were able to break the Saints down, especially after they had seen title rivals Manchester United win so emphatically against Watford the night before.

City are among the title favourites and they typically start strong in their Premier League matches but it was not easy when they clashed with Southampton, with both teams struggling to find their stride, and Manchester City needing a late, late intervention from Raheem Sterling to get them their full 3 points. The time on the clock was 90 + 6 when the ball flew over the line, and gave City the narrowest of victories. While they were not in danger of losing, it was difficult to get the goals in against a solid and stodgy Soton side that never really gave the City defence much of an examination.

Ronald Koeman frustrated by Jose Mourinho's top-four comment

Team:

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has asked José Mourinho to 'get realistic' after he claimed the Toffees should at least finish in the top-four having spent £140m in the transfer window.

The Toffees were simply at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon as they succumbed to a 4-0 defeat. Goals from Antonio Valencia, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Romelu Lukaku, and Anthony Martial were sufficient to guide United to yet another 4-0 victory which puts them equal on points with Manchester City at the top of the table.

Koeman's side have now lost their last four games across all competitions, and the Dutchman's frustration was evident when discussing Mourinho's comments, he said: "I read the United programme and my colleague told me about Everton spending £140m and so they need to go for the top four. If there’s anybody in this room and outside and sees this as something realistic for us, please comment. Be realistic. I’m not happy how we started the season, but please be a bit realistic about Everton. We need time, but it’s difficult in football."

Rooney change was Tactical, says Ronald Koeman

It has been an incredible last couple of months in the ever-turbulent life of Wayne Rooney. He returns back to where it all started with his beloved Everton.

He scores on his league debut. He then gets arrested and charged with drink-driving and ordered to do community service. His marriage is on the rocks as a result.

Everton embark on a horror run of form but get a much-needed win at the weekend against Bournemouth. Again though, it’s Rooney who is the centre of attention getting involved in a nasty aerial clash with the Cherries Simon Francis which leaves him with a black eye and blood pouring from the wound.

Ashley Williams angry at himself following Chelsea defeat

Team:

Everton centre-back Ashley Williams has admitted that he is angry with himself after failing to score a late leader in his side's defeat at Chelsea.

The Welshman glanced a close-range header into the roof of the net, and this prevented the Toffees from finding a way back into a game which they lost by a 2-0 scoreline.

He said: "We had chances to get it back to 2-1 – if I had scored that header, then we might have got another one. My shot was just a bit of a hit and hope. But the header I should definitely have scored, I don’t know how I didn’t. I tried to get contact on the ball but it went wide. That frustrated me because if we had got a goal then it would have been an interesting end to the game."

RAMIREZ SCORES AS EVERTON DRAW SEVILLA 2-2

Team:

Premier League side Everton FC played a 2-2 draw with La Liga side Sevilla in final pre-season game ahead of the forthcoming season.

New signing Sandro Ramirez grabbed his first ever Everton goal as he scored in less than a minute at Goodison Park. The former Malaga man rounded up the Sevilla keeper David Soria before scoring the opener.

The score line remained the same all through the first half but Ever Banega grabbed a brace in four minutes as the Spanish side toppled Everton over. Banega banged in the goals by beating new addition to the Toffees team Jordan Pickford before scoring from the penalty spot minutes later after Gareth Barry fouled Nolito.

EVERTON SNAP UP SIGURDSSON

Team:

Premier League side Everton have snapped up midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson just as the this season kicks into flow, with Swansea now looking to use the money to step up their chase of Joe Allen of Stoke City. The Swans value Allen £20 million but have money in place to go higher having already lost Gylfi Sigurdsson for a record fee.

It was widely known that the player was keen on joining the Toffees this summer so manager Paul Clement took steps to plan his replacement. The coach refused to confirm reports flying around that Stoke City are refusing to sell the former Liverpool man but he opened up on the Sigurdsson situation ahead of the transfer.

Everton agree deal for Swansea City attacker

Team:

Premier League club Everton are reported to have finalised an agreement to sign Swansea City playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson this summer.

The Iceland international played a pivotal role in the Swans' attack last term, contributing nine goals and 13 assists en route to their 15th place finish.

Toffees boss Ronald Koeman has already shown his intent to propel the club into the Champions League places after having recruited six players including Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford and Wayne Rooney - who have earned respect at their former clubs.

Wayne Rooney urges Everton teammate to stay at the club

Team:

Everton's new signing Wayne Rooney has urged Ross Barkley to stay put at Goodison Park this summer.

The 23-year-old has snubbed a fresh Toffees contract, and this has heightened speculation over his future in recent weeks. Barkley showcased some of his old form during the previous campaign, but his reluctance to sign a new contract beyond 2018 has put the Toffees in a tough situation in the transfer window.

EVERTON WHEEL AND DEAL

Team:

Premier League side Everton have concluded the deal of Michael Keane from Burnley, according to reports in England. The deal could rise up to £30 million as Coach Ronald Koeman continues with his restructuring and reinforcements at Goodison Park.

The England centre back reportedly received a five year package from the Toffees, which makes the 24 year old one of the best paid at the club - the 24-year old is more than pleased with the deal, adding that he is focused on development.
