Everton boss keen on the Toffees’ returning to winning ways in the Premier League

Everton manager Marco Silva has emphasised the need to return to winning ways in the Premier League in order to build up the confidence within the squad. The Merseyside outfit were within striking distance off the top six in November but they have since dropped off the pace with a difficult run of results during the festive period.

Speaking to Everton TV, Silva indicated that winning games is the best formula to build up confidence and he is hoping that the club can erase a two-match losing streak in the league this weekend, he said:“Winning matches is the best way to win confidence and to start playing again at our best level. We have already shown that this season.

“The best way to show it [our quality] is by the results and the wins. We achieved the main thing against Lincoln and we have to work strongly again to achieve a good result in the next match. We want our players playing with the same confidence - because I know that when we play with confidence we will be better, for sure, and show our quality again.”

“Everton’s main concern has resulted from the striking department this term where both Dominic Calvert-Lewin“ and Cenk Tosun have struggled to provide the breakthrough at regular intervals. As such, Silva has depended on Richarlison to lead the line with reasonable success though the Brazilian appears to perform better when trusted on the left “side of the attack“.

Due to this, the Merseyside outfit appear keen on signing another striker this month and they have been linked with a potential move for Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi. The Belgian is expected to return from an unsuccessful loan stint at Valencia in the forthcoming days and he could thereafter be sold with both the Toffees and Crystal Palace keen on acquiring his signature.
