HULL SIGN BRUCE

Championship club Hull City have decided to sign former Sunderland manager Steve Bruce as their new man to lead the club.

The club recently sacked Nick Barmby from his position after the former midfielder made some ill-advised comments about the owners of the club. Steve Bruce has been out of work after being sacked by Sunderland midway through the season.

Steve Bruce had a terrible season with Sunderland, who flirted with relegation for most of the campaign. However, the arrival of Martin O'Neill brought a new zest of life at the Stadium of Light. The club eventually finished the season in the 13th position comfortably free of relegation.

Steve Bruce, though, will be looking to rediscover his magic touch after taking over at Hull city. The former Manchester United defender has the experience of getting teams from the Championship to the Premier league after he did the same with Birmingham city.

After having spent most of the last few seasons as a Premier league manager, it will be slightly difficult for Steven Bruce in the initial few months of the campaign. Immediately after taking over the managerial post, Steve Bruce has said that he has no doubts regarding the commitment of the owners.

“Let’s be clear, the people here are determined to take the club forward. The more I spoke to them, the more assurances I was given and it became clear where they wanted to take the club. That was important to me because the point of the conversations was to make sure that their ambition matches my own. I want to be back in the Premier League. I have received assurances and hopefully I can get the job done and get us both back in the Premier League,” said Bruce to the Sky Sports News.
