EVERTON TARGET NEW SUMMER ADDITIONS

Team:

Everton FC are seeking to add new talents to its ranks this summer, according to reports. Ronald Koeman has been linked with a top European talent: Davy Klaassen of Ajax.

The Mirror claims the Dutch tactician wants his compatriot Klaassen to join him at Goodison Park as they play European football next year. There were reports that Wayne Rooney could return to his boyhood club for emotional reasons as he enters the latter stages of his illustrious career.

If Koeman goes ahead with the chase of the Ajax star, it would likely soil the Rooney move. The Rooney deal is something the fans have been clamouring for,for a while now even though the Red Devils skipper has openly pledged to end his career at Old Trafford.

Koeman reportedly made a secret visit to see the 24-year old attacking player as Ajax humbled Lyon 4-1 in the Europa League semi-final first leg. Reports say the coach was seated in a private executive box at the Amsterdam Arena.

Klaassen could become the No. 10 in the team next season if Ajax and Everton agree to deal. The player costs around £20 million. He has played for the Netherlands setup 11 times with him netting three times already.

The skipper of the Dutch giant rose through its academy and he has been attracting interests from top sides in Europe. The high-scoring midfielder has played 175 games and scored 53 goals. This season alone he has scored 18 goals in 43 games.

There are other stars linked with a move to Everton but the summer happenings would determine eventual picks.
