Cenk Tosun insists he has no plans of leaving Everton during the summer

Everton striker Cenk Tosun has indicated that he has no plans of parting ways with the Toffees when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year. The Turkey international has been with the club for the past 15 months but he has not quite been able to cement a regular role from the starting lineup.

Due to this, there have been reports suggesting that Besiktas could seek to re-sign him at the end of the season but Tosun has dismissed the claims by stating that he is content at the Merseyside outfit, he said: “I’m not coming back to Turkey. I’m so happy at Everton. I want to be here for a long time. For my homeland, I want to make my flag proud here. Here, we represent Turkey. Not just me; Caglar Söyüncü, Cengiz Under, Hakan Calhanoglu, Zeki Celik, Merih Demiral, Okay Yokuslu are also the same … We represent not only our name but also the whole country.”

Tosun had a good end to the previous campaign with the Toffees and he has been expected to command a regular role upfront during the ongoing season. However, the emergence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin has meant that his gametime has reduced and he has largely settled for a substitute role during the second half of the season.

With the season coming to a close, the Merseyside outfit have been fancied to pursue another marksman and that could spell concerns for Tosun , who has not started a Premier League game since February. The Toffees are currently ninth on the table and they are one point off the seventh spot, which could assure them an entry to the Europa League next term.

As such, they have plenty to play for before the season concludes and it remains to be seen whether they can keep up the recent momentum. The Toffees are scheduled to face Manchester United at Goodison Park this weekend.
